About the creator, Naturopath Georgia Harding
In a nutshell…

Hello and welcome to Well Nourished.  I’m Georgia Harding, the heart, soul and mind behind this blog which has evolved from a life long love of creating meals from delicious, whole foods, along with my many years in clinical practice, lecturing students and presenting on talk back radio.

I’m unashamedly a foodie and spend a LOT of time thinking about food! My recipes have been featured on JamieOliver.com,  FoodMatters.com and I also contribute recipes to Wellbeing EatWell magazine. Every week I share fresh food and health inspiration on my blog – I’d love you to join over 17,00 subscribers so I can support you to choose the best foods to nourish yourself and your family too!

Here’s a little bit about me…

I am a Naturopath, freestyle cook, and mother of two divine children (my daughter who is 12 years old and my son who is 8 years).  Also wife to a fine food loving husband.

I have 20 years of Naturopathic experience, treating and mentoring patients on matters of health and wellness.  This blog is my commitment to further share my passion and knowledge of health, food and healing.

I love to grow, source and prepare food to feed my family and friends well.  I also love to travel and enjoy cultural food experiences.  Holidays are always centred around adventure, relaxation and fabulous food.

I live in a beautiful patch of paradise in Queensland, Australia.  When I look out the windows of my home, I see nature in all its glory and I feel truly blessed.

When it comes to food, there’s not much I haven’t explored – The 80’s, like many teenagers, was my drunk and junk phase. The 90’s vegan, vegetarian, food combining to name a few. The next decade became a real challenge when I not only had to feed myself but two hungry children and a husband.  At this point I re-examined the fundamentals of eating, nutrition and health.  Consuming a variety of fresh, whole food and delicious moments shared with family and friends is now my food focus.

Through my own health challenges, I have lived and learned.  In my lifetime I’ve successfully overcome a childhood cardiac disorder and recovered from an autoimmune thyroid disease (Graves) as an adult.  These experiences have shaped my commitment to wellness.  I currently live a very well balanced life, blessed with good health and abundance.  I try to never to take this for granted.

My inspirations include my darling Nan, who patiently encouraged me to invent my own chocolate coconut cake and write it in her recipe notebook.  My mum developed my appreciation of health and healing with whole foods.  My husband has taught me balance in life.

Finally my children who’ve taught me to navigate the world of lunch boxes and who eagerly devour my every creation in the kitchen (even the not so good ones).  They are both exceptionally healthy and I like to keep it that way.  My family motivates me to strive to nourish the world in every way I know how.

My Blog
Each week I write on a variety of health related topics including some delicious recipes to nourish and delight.  The various blogs will support and inspire you to source and eat the best food possible.  I aim to motivate you to find the true health and vitality that is available to each and every one of us, without the stress of ‘being on a diet’.  Change begins with you as an individual but ultimately shapes your family, shapes your world.  I believe that without good health there’s not much else.  The effects of improving your health are far reaching – I look forward to sharing the journey.

My recipes and food
When I create a meal I have three things in mind. Primarily, how much nourishment will be derived from the dish.  Next, how much time will I need to spend preparing and cooking the dish (hopefully as little as possible).  Finally, how delicious can I make this dish without compromising nourishment.  I also hate washing up, so the less ‘stuff’ used in prep the better! I truly love the endless possibilities of food creation.

Whilst I don’t subscribe to any particular ‘dietary labels,’  I strive to offer lots of options in my recipes so that those with dietary restrictions can try them.  I also offer alternatives so that if you are without certain ingredients on a particular day, you have the option of omitting or exchanging them.

I am very much a freestyle cook.  This means I just look in the fridge, choose a core ingredient and run with it.  I often don’t know what I’m making for lunch or dinner until I start cooking.  However experience has taught me well and through my love of delicious food, I can place flavour combinations together to create a great, healthy meal (although I sometimes come unstuck free styling when it comes to baking).  The latitude in my recipes are designed to develop this skill in even the most inexperienced cook.

The food I source is always fresh, preferably straight from my garden.  I like to source SLOW foods Seasonal, Local, Organic and Whole.  I endeavour  to source organic or sustainable produce, but I don’t stress if I can’t.  I just do the best I can, when I can.  I’ve long abandoned the food stress I have experienced in the past. You can read more about how I’ve found peace with my plate here.

I have a first hand understanding of the time and social pressures of raising healthy, well-fed children. I am always developing shortcuts in the kitchen to make the most of the potential in every meal, including avoiding waste.  This is why I will often include tips on using left overs of either a single ingredients or whole meals.  Connect with me on one of my social media platforms for lots of waste and time minimising tricks.

My photographs
I am very much a novice photographer and I only really discovered I could take photos of food when I started my blog in 2013.  I really enjoy getting creative with my camera (though I only manage to capture lovely images of things that don’t move). Try as I will, photos of kids and pets are just not my forte!

I hope I do my food recipes justice and all photos, unless stipulated, are my own.

Kind words…

“I downloaded your ebooks after hearing you speak at the Health and Wellness Summit in Melbourne. Love them, life changing… Don’t stop! Thank you for getting the whole food message out there, I certainly heard it.” Melanie

“I love your ebooks, I have all three of them now and they are now my only go to receipe books. They are simple, wholesome and taste great. THANK YOU!!! I have spent alot of money on courses about healthy eating and recipe books but your books have covered it all and my little man enjoys the snacks etc. Wish I would have found you earlier “. Brooke

“I just want to say a huge thank you for your amazing website and information. I’ve never liked cooking and never got excited by my ‘healthy’ cooking. My husband is even worse and if he could, he would just eat beacon and eggs every morning and steak every night. He hardly ate any veggies. Since I found your website I have gone through almost every recipe. My husband is loving every meal as well – even meat free Monday, and he’s taking left-overs to work for lunch (honestly, who thought that could be so hard?!)” Rose

“You have truly helped me and my family to lead a healthier lifestyle. I’ve been referring to your page every few days, very inspiring, so thank you!” Emily

“Thank you very much for your awesome website & facebook page posts, you have motivated & inspired me heaps!” Fiona

“I just wanted to let you know that you have absolutely inspired me to a better way of eating, I’ve been making my shopping lists based on recipes you’ve shared and am educating my kids with the reasons behind different foods and why they are good etc! This page has become my little bible hehe! Thank you so much for all the detail you give. It’s absolutely wonderful!” Sky
