+ Well Nourished | Choices Count (competition time)

Choices Count (competition time)!

Words by Kim from Foundling

One of my favourite Well Nourished quotes reminds us not to ask why ‘healthy’ food is so expensive but rather…why ‘junk’ food is so cheap.  It all comes down of course to choices that we consciously make towards a fulfilling life, and sometimes, those choices cost more .. be it time, effort or money.  Sadly, many of us are too time poor or simply cannot justify the expense of practicing good choices…however every choice counts.

The difficulty faced by brands is in creating ‘good’ products that have consumer appeal, the most critical factor being a consumer’s propensity to pay, often pay more…for good, ‘wholesome’ products.  ie. Is there a demand?

Foundling is a new Byron Bay based brand committed to making good choices.  Our range of eco bags are based on recycling salvaged materials into useful everyday objects.   The process of creating those products is ultimately more costly & time consuming than ordering their mass-produced PVC equivalents, so we looked overseas to those countries that routinely recycle almost anything that can be put to another use.  Enter Foundling’s Vietnamese tote bags, recycled from used rice bags which are strong & waterproof in a range of quirky designs – and in practical sizes to make them useful.  You can take a look at these beautiful totes here.  Or, our latest addition to the eco bag range …large canvas carry-alls, created entirely from salvaged Indian tents (each one uniquely timeworn by its former life) and screen printed by hand in a range of Foundling’s own limited edition designs.  Check them out here.

In consciously choosing bags like this over their mainstream alternatives, consumers send brands and corporations a message that they want to make their purchases count…and in using them as everyday bags, our consumers help to erode the 4 billion plastic bags Australians consume per year…that’s supermarket bags alone!

Kind words…

“I downloaded your ebooks after hearing you speak at the Health and Wellness Summit in Melbourne. Love them, life changing… Don’t stop! Thank you for getting the whole food message out there, I certainly heard it.” Melanie

“I love your ebooks, I have all three of them now and they are now my only go to receipe books. They are simple, wholesome and taste great. THANK YOU!!! I have spent alot of money on courses about healthy eating and recipe books but your books have covered it all and my little man enjoys the snacks etc. Wish I would have found you earlier “. Brooke

“I just want to say a huge thank you for your amazing website and information. I’ve never liked cooking and never got excited by my ‘healthy’ cooking. My husband is even worse and if he could, he would just eat beacon and eggs every morning and steak every night. He hardly ate any veggies. Since I found your website I have gone through almost every recipe. My husband is loving every meal as well – even meat free Monday, and he’s taking left-overs to work for lunch (honestly, who thought that could be so hard?!)” Rose

“You have truly helped me and my family to lead a healthier lifestyle. I’ve been referring to your page every few days, very inspiring, so thank you!” Emily
