Resources Guide

Having a selection of local producers or suppliers to source fresh produce is essential to making sure your panty is always well stocked with the best value, quality food.

This resources guide is a work in progress. I am endeavouring to develop a list of suppliers so that no matter where you live, you can source the freshest and most economical, sustainable or organic local produce.

Click on the arrow next to the ‘Find Wholefood’ tab in the menu which then will list each state (the resources are categorised on this page into farmers markets, delivery services and outlets selling S.L.O.W. or sustainable foods). Most are link to the store or markets own website or social media page so you can find out more for yourself.

To further develop this guide I will need your input. Please email me the details of what and where you source S.L.O.W. produce so I can include it on my website. I’m after the business/ market name, website link and the type of produce sold so I can connect my readers with local producers.

I can only attest personally to the suppliers I deal with offering the quality S.L.O.W. and sustainable produce I often refer to. This link is a public resource and I unfortunately cannot vouch for the ethics of all of the producers and suppliers listed. I will however make contact with these suppliers to ensure that the information I am providing is as accurate as possible.

Ultimately it is up to you to ask your suppliers about the source of their produce, how it is grown, harvested and transported. Ask questions especially of meats that are advertised as ‘free range’ (they are not always as free as you may think), or if  ‘grass fed,’ ask if the animal has been grass fed for 100% of its life (not just the first few months). Remember ‘organic’ does not automatically mean ethical or sustainable. I know when it comes to sourcing meat for example, I would choose to eat fully grass fed non organic beef, over an organic grain fed beef. Ultimately the choice is yours.

Yes it may take a little time to ask the questions and source the best produce available to you, but once you have been through the process, you can relax in understanding what you are consuming.

I really hope you find this guide useful and these resources help you to become ‘Well nourished’.
