Over the years, I’ve unlearned a lot.
As a naturopath, a mum, and someone who’s worked with thousands of families through Well Nourished, I’ve seen firsthand how confusing and overwhelming health advice can be.
We’re constantly bombarded with messages telling us how to eat, what to avoid, and what the next “magic fix” might be. But many of these narratives have taken us further away from what’s truly nourishing – for our bodies, our families, and our lives.
So here are the stories I’m no longer buying into – not out of judgement, but because they don’t align with what I’ve come to know, trust, and witness as truth.
The wellness stories I’m unlearning…
That extreme or fad diets are the answer
→ When nourishment is about consistency, not extremes.
That counting every calorie is the key to health
→ When food is more than numbers – it’s culture, connection, information and intuition.
That there’s one “best” diet, supplement or lifestyle for everyone
→ When no two bodies are the same – and bio-individuality matters.
That ultra-processed foods are “healthy” just because they’re gluten-free, low-carb or plant-based
→ When real food will always offer more than what a marketing label can.
That science should be trusted without question
→ When real science doesn’t ask for blind faith – it invites curiosity, welcomes challenge, and evolves through uncertainty.
That eating well is about having more time
→ When it’s really about making it a priority, getting organised, and finding support.
That evolutionary processes like menopause need to be “fixed”
→ When we could be supporting our bodies through change, not medicalising what’s biologically normal.
That erythritol and other artificial sweeteners are better than natural alternatives
→ When we’ve forgotten that nature provides what we need – without side effects, blood sugar spikes, or long-term health questions.
That the sun is something to fear
→ When the sun is part of our circadian rhythm, mood, immunity and vitality.
That humans can outsmart or out-create nature
→ When we’ve forgotten that nature is the blueprint.
What I believe instead…
I believe in food that’s as close to nature as possible.
I believe in rhythm, not rigidity.
I believe in connection – to land, seasons, body and family.
And I believe that the best answers are often the quietest ones.
That’s the foundation of everything we do here at Well Nourished.
Simple, real, connected nourishment – for life.

Still returning to what feels true.

I love this Georgia. I’m a farmers wife about to embark on feeding our staff of 10, plus my four kids, over harvest and summer sport season. It’s a daunting thing, but I sat down to look through my membership here and feel SO SUPPORTED!! Sourcing good food out here is a full time job in itself, but I am so grateful for these easeful meals that I know are not banged out on AI full of mistakes, and I don’t need to check them out for the things I also don’t like to use in cooking. Life and food is about connection and increasingly, values. I align with yours and look forward to nourishing our crew simply but well this year using your recipes. Nothing is more important to us than teaching our people how to manage their bodies well, as we trust them with our million dollar equipment. It’s just so important!! Thank you 😊
